IMPORTANT NOTICE: By volunteering at KadabraCon you agree to abide by all conditions and terms defined within this volunteer policy.

 

KadabraCon is firmly committed to the health and safety of its volunteers and has a responsibility to provide a safe environment for its volunteers, convention attendees, guests, and the general public.

 

 

Listed below is the volunteer policy for KadabraCon.

 

KadabraCon Volunteer Policy

 

What are the benefits of being a volunteer at KadabraCon?

• Volunteers can attend KadabraCon free-of-charge when not on-duty.

• Volunteers receive an exclusive KadabraCon badge not available to the general public.

• Volunteers will receive an exclusive Volunteer T-Shirt not available to the general public.

• Volunteers have access to a Volunteer Green Room where they can relax and grab a snack while off-duty.

• Volunteers will have access to an exclusive KadabraCon Discord Server.

• Volunteers will get to experience a taste of what goes on behind the scenes of putting on an event like KadabraCon.

• Volunteers will have the opportunity to meet like-minded individuals who are also passionate about this community.

• Volunteers will have access to a Volunteer Party after the event to highlight outstanding volunteers and give out prizes.

 

What conditions must I meet to be a volunteer at KadabraCon?

• Volunteers must be 18 years of age and be able to prove this with a valid state drivers’ license or ID card, military ID, or passport.

• Volunteers must sign a copy of the KadabraCon Volunteer Policy.

• Volunteers must be able to work a minimum of ONE (4)-hour shift for EACH day working.

• Volunteers are responsible for paying the at-the-door price of the day they are NOT volunteering for.

• Volunteers are able to work more than 4 hours per day if he/she/they desire.

• In order to volunteer you must abide by the KadabraCon Code of Conduct.

• Volunteers are allowed to cosplay while on duty as long as they are able to wear their Volunteer T-Shirt/Wristband and/or Badge are easily seen by KadabraCon Staff and attendees. Cosplays MUST be family friendly.

• Volunteers are NOT allowed to ASK celebrity guests ANYTHING FOR FREE. If a celebrity decides to OFFER to sign something for you then you are allowed to accept. Please refrain from asking.

• A volunteer is responsible for his/her/their own meals and sleeping accommodations. There is serious health risks associated with lack of food and sleep up to and including death. Please keep in mind that you are only human and require food and sleep; BE RESPONSIBLE.

• Volunteers under the influence of alcohol or drugs at KadabraCon are a hazard to themselves and to the health and well-being of others. The effects of certain drugs linger in the body and, therefore, recent use is as significant a problem as continuing use.

 

 

What are some expectations of KadabraCon regarding volunteers?

Volunteers are expected to report on time for their shift and remain there for the entire duration. If a volunteer needs to be absent for any reason, they are expected to notify the volunteer coordinator or convention director or assistant convention director promptly so that the shift can be arranged to be covered. In order to arrange for proper convention coverage, volunteers should notify the volunteer coordinator at least two (2) hours prior to the start of their scheduled shift.

Volunteers are expected to always wear their Volunteer T-Shirt while ON DUTY along with their color-coordinated volunteer wristband. Volunteer wristbands will be issued by KadabraCon Staff to each volunteer at the beginning of their shift by the volunteer coordinator. Volunteers MUST keep their volunteer wristband on at the end of their shift to continue as their day pass for the remainder of the day. Volunteers cosplaying in more complex cosplays may receive a Volunteer badge. This Volunteer badge is the property of KadabraCon and MUST be returned after completing their shift.

 

All Volunteers will receive their souvenir Volunteer badge on Sunday.
 

Volunteers are expected to respect KadabraCon’s, artists’, dealers’, guests’ and attendees’ property.

 

Volunteers are also expected to conduct themselves in a courteous manner prior to, during, and after the convention due to the possibility that volunteers may be construed as representatives of KadabraCon. This includes participation in any online forums, chat rooms, or blogs. Even if the volunteer is not acting in an official capacity, others may view him/her/them as a representative of KadabraCon (Especially if a volunteer position at KadabraCon is indicated in some manner such as a volunteer t-shirt or forum signature).

It is KadabraCon’s policy to treat all convention attendees, artists, dealers, guests, venue staff, KadabraCon Staff, and volunteers with courtesy and respect. All volunteers are expected to follow this policy.

Harassment of ANY kind will NOT be tolerated and will result in your pass being confiscated, you will be asked to leave the event, and you will be banned from volunteering for future KadabraCon events.

 

What are the rules for the Volunteer Green Room?

• Volunteers are not permitted to allow non-volunteers entry into the Volunteer Green Room

• Alcohol and illegal drugs or substances are not permitted in the Volunteer Green Room.

• Parties are NOT permitted in the Volunteer Green Room.

• The Volunteer Green Room door must NOT be left open or propped open.

 

What happens if I lose personal belongings, or someone breaks into my vehicle while I’m volunteering at KadabraCon?

KadabraCon is not responsible for the theft or damage of volunteers’ personal property. Do not bring valuables into the convention, do not leave valuables in plain sight in your vehicle, and make sure your vehicle is locked and secure.

What are the rules for the KadabraCon Discord Server?

• KadabraCon prohibits ANY form of harassment or discrimination against any KadabraCon guests, attendees, staff, or the general public on the KadabraCon Discord Server. This behavior will NOT be tolerated. Violators will be BANNED from the KadabraCon Volunteer Discord Server and from Volunteering at future KadabraCon events.
